I work with adults, older adults and students via long-term sessions, short-term sessions, long-term face to face work, online therapy, short term face to face work, time-limited.
Our first session is a chance to get to know each other. I'll ask some questions to understand your background and what's brought you to therapy, though it's equally important that you get a feel for how I work and whether I'm the right fit for you. I take a collaborative approach and welcome any questions you may have. We'll also go through a counselling contract together, which covers details such as session structure, & confidentiality.
I mainly work in person from my home in Dunboyne, and online via Zoom as an integrative counsellor which means I use a variety of approaches including Person-Centred, Humanistic, Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Transactional Analysis. This way of working allows me to be flexible in my approach and to work in a way that is intuitive, along with mindfulness practices, that can be adapted to meet your individual needs.
The weekly sessions last 50 minutes in a safe non-judgmental space, where you can be yourself and tell your story at your own pace. The focus of the work will be led by you, and I will work at your pace supporting you to understand yourself better and use the space to explore whatever has taken you to therapy so we can look at the goals that you hope to achieve. That said, therapy isn't just about goals. Sometimes, the safety and consistency of a strong therapeutic relationship can be healing in itself.
I am available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9am until 7pm and on Thursdays from 9am until 3pm at my practice in Dunboyne, County Meath in Ireland, and also remotely in the UK. My practice room is calm and tranquil, and has parking and is wheelchair accessible. For online sessions I use Zoom, which is a secure and straightforward platform. Should you wish to have a Zoom session, all that is required is to click on the link that I would forward to you via an email.
Counselling takes place weekly at an agreed time and costs £50 (€60) per session (some concessions may be available). Payment is made by BACS 24 hours before each session.
Please note
Any sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will require full payment.
I met Ann approximately 5 years ago during a very difficult stage in my life. My youngest daughter had recently passed away and I was finding it really hard to cope with my grief.
I spoke to a couple of other counsellors within the first year then I happened to meet Ann and everything changed. She completely understood me and how I was feeling. She made me not scared to talk about difficult emotions and thoughts, and how to cope and repair my mind. Also, to accept and embrace what had happened and to not waste energy on negative thoughts because it was not going to help me. I can honestly say that I walked away from my last session with Ann a completely different person. I can now speak openly about my daughter without crying my eyes out. This all stemmed from Ann and the foundation that she gave me as a person to start the rest of my life. RG.
I began to see Ann in the summer of 2024. I had a bad phobia, not dealt with grief, relationship problems and some family problems aswell. I was on medication and wasn't sleeping well at all. In just 10 sessions spread over the course of a few months I was able to deal with all the above issues. I come off the medication and was able to sleep much better. I still have the odd occasional panic attack but with Ann's techniques and process I am able to overcome them.
I would highly recommend. LS
Ann & I worked together at the Basildon MIND Counselling Service for over 6 years. During that time we have been both colleagues & friends. Professionally, Ann is experienced & knowledgeable. She puts her all into her client work to achieve the best outcomes possible - she will always go the extra mile. She is warm, kind, compassionate & very easy to talk to. I would highly recommend her as a counsellor - she is a safe pair of hands.
